How to recover projects in Test Case Explorer after SOAtest crash

While updating test suppressions in a SOAtest project, SOAtest crashed and wiped out all of the projects that had been set up in Test Case Explorer. How do we recover those projects and the configurations that have been applied (e.g. suppressions)?

    Hi Sarah,

    I'd be happy to help out.

    Please go into the workspace you were using on your file system and verify that the projects and their associated .tst files are still there.

    Once you have done that:
    1. Go to File> Import
    2. Select Existing projects into Workspace and click Next
    3. In the Select root directory choose browse and navigate to where the tst files are on your filesystem
    4. Once you hit OK in the browser window, the projects in that folder will show up in the Projects field. Select the ones you would like to import and hit Finish

    Your tst files should all be back in place, with any modifications that were saved before the crash. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    We were able to follow the instructions to step 4, but in the Import Projects window the project we want to select shows as grayed out and we are unable to select it.

    We were able to follow the instructions to step 4, but in the Import Projects window the project we want to select shows as grayed out and we are unable to select it.

    This is because even though SOAtest is not showing the projects, they are still in the folder on your filesystem that represents your current workspace. Please move the projects to a different folder and try again. This time, after step 3, check the box which says Copy projects into workspace. This will recopy the projects into your workspace and you can then delete the ones which you moved out of the workspace.

    Let me know if you are having any more trouble with this issue.

    We followed these instructions but we are still receiving the "Some projects can not be imported because they already exist in the workspace error."

    Hi Sarah,

    This means that the metadata associated with your workspace is corrupt. To remedy this, please do the following:

    1. Make sure SOAtest is closed.
    2. Navigate to your workspace, then to .metadata/.plugins
    3. Delete org.eclipse.core.resources
    4. Start SOAtest. (Your projects will not show up. Don't worry, they're still there, you just need to re-import them.)
    5. Import your projects as specified before (There's no need to move them into and out of the folder this time)

    This should resolve the problem. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any issues.
